On this day, a day of respect and observance, let us not forget that our freedom was bought and protected with the lives of courageous men and women. I am thankful for the real American superheroes and their example of sacrifice, courage and commitment.
As we enjoy many of our freedoms today, let's be sure to talk with our kids about the meaning of Memorial Day and join the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 pm to say a prayer of thanks, a prayer for our nation, and a prayer for military families serving all over the world.
May Memorial Day be more than a Monday vacation, may we always honor and never forget.
